Graph g(x)=2+|x| and it’s parent functions
matrenka [14]

The parent function is ...

... f(x) = |x|

This is the absolute value function, equal x when x ≥ 0, and equal to -x when x < 0. Its graph has the shape of a V with the vertex at the origin and "legs" of slope ±1.

The function g(x) is the same function with 2 added. The addition of 2 moves every value of f(x) up 2 units, so translates the whole graph upward by 2 units.

I need help on this 2 problems please help
Digiron [165]

Answer:

3. 294 m²

4. 185,856 mm²

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the surface area of any figure, you can simply find the sum of the areas of all the sides.  In question 3, the figure is a triangular prism that has two triangular bases and three rectangular sides.  The measurements for the triangles are b = 9m and h = 6m.  The formula for the area of a triangle is base times height divided by 2, or 9 x 6 = 54/2 = 27 m². However, since there are two triangular bases, the area for both is 54 m².  The measurements for the other three rectangles are given:

7(10) + 8(10) + 9(10) = 240 m² + 54 m² = 294 m²

The surface area of a cube is much easier since all sides are equal and can be found using the formula:

SA = 6s², where 's' represents the measure of a side.

SA = 6(176)² = 185,856 mm²

Which is equal to P-R?
lorasvet [3.4K]
<h3>Answer: Choice B</h3>

With matrix subtraction, you simply subtract the corresponding values.

I like to think of it as if you had 2 buses. Each bus is a rectangle array of seats. Each seat would be a box where there's a number inside. Each seat is also labeled in a way so you can find it very quickly (eg: "seat C1" for row C, 1st seat on the very left). The rule is that you can only subtract values that are in the same seat between the two buses.

So in this case, we subtract the first upper left corner values 14 and 15 to get 14-15 = -1. The only answer that has this is choice B. So we can stop here if needed.

If we kept going then the other values would be...

row1,column2: P-R = -33-16 = -49

row1,column3: P-R = 28-(-24) = 52

row2,column1: P-R = 42-25 = 17

row2,column2: P-R = 35-(-30) = 65

row2,column3: P-R = -19-36 = -55

The values in bold correspond to the proper values shown in choice B.

As you can probably guess by now, matrix addition and subtraction is only possible if the two matrices are the same size (same number of rows, same number of columns). The matrices don't have to be square.

The area of a rectangle is 72 square feet. Its length is 12 feet. Which equivalent formula could you use to find the width?
klasskru [66]

Answer:

w=6ft

Step-by-step explanation:

72 divided by 12 is 6

Using the formula

A=wl

Solving for w

w=A

l=72

12=6ft
