Gel electrophoresis is a technique that we can use to ensure that the amplification process worked because we can see the different bands of DNA in the gel and compare the bands with the DNA ladder. If we know the number of base pairs that the replicated DNA should have, we would expect to see the bands of DNA in a certain area of the gel that is accurate for that amount of bp according to the DNA ladder.
