A study was conducted to assess the effects that occur when children are exposed to cocaine before birth. Children were tested a

t age 4 for object assembly skill, which was described as a task requiring visual spatial skills related to mathematical competence. The 190 children born to cocaine users had a mean of 7.3 and a standard deviation of 3.0 The 186 children not exposed to cocaine had a mean score of 8.2 with a standard deviation of 3.0 Use a 0.05 significance level to test the claim that prenatal cocaine exposure is associated with lower scores of four year old children on the test of object assembly.
What are null and alternative hypothesis? What is test statistics?

Answer:

We conclude that prenatal cocaine exposure is associated with lower scores of four-year-old children on the test of object assembly.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that the 190 children born to cocaine users had a mean of 7.3 and a standard deviation of 3.0 The 186 children not exposed to cocaine had a mean score of 8.2 with a standard deviation of 3.0.

Let \mu_1 = <u><em>population mean score for children born to cocaine users</em></u>.

\mu_2 = <u><em>population mean score for children not exposed to cocaine</em></u>.

So, Null Hypothesis, : = 490      {means that the prenatal cocaine exposure is not associated with lower scores of four-year-old children on the test of object assembly}

Alternate Hypothesis, : 490     {means that the prenatal cocaine exposure is associated with lower scores of four-year-old children on the test of object assembly}

The test statistics that will be used here is <u>Two-sample t-test statistics</u> because we don't know about population standard deviations;

                               T.S.  =  \frac{(\bar X_1-\bar X_2)-(\mu_1-\mu_2)}{s_p \times \sqrt{\frac{1}{n_1}+\frac{1}{n_2} } }  ~ t__n_1_+_n_2_-_2

where, \bar X_1 = sample mean score of children born to cocaine users = 7.3

\bar X_2 = sample mean score of children not exposed to cocaine = 8.2

s_1 = sample standard deviation for children born to cocaine users = 3

s_2 = sample standard deviation for children not exposed to cocaine = 3

n_1 = sample of children born to cocaine users = 190

n_2 = sample of children not exposed to cocaine = 186

Also, s_p=\sqrt{\frac{(n_1-1)\times s_1^{2}+(n_2-1)\times s_2^{2} }{n_1+n_2-2} }  = \sqrt{\frac{(190-1)\times 3^{2}+(186-1)\times 3^{2} }{190+186-2} } = 3

So, the test statistics =   ~

                                     =  -2.908

The value of t-test statistics is -2.908.

Now, at a 0.05 level of significance, the t table gives a critical value of -1.645 at 374 degrees of freedom for the left-tailed test.

Since the value of our test statistics is less than the critical value of t as -2.908 < -1.645, so we have sufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis as the test statistics will fall in the rejection region.

Therefore, we conclude that prenatal cocaine exposure is associated with lower scores of four-year-old children on the test of object assembly.

Answer:

Your answer is C

Step-by-step explanation:

0.5 = Five tenths

and

0.05 = five hundredths

This is because 0.5 is like 50 cents and 0.05 is like 5 cents

The rest are wrong because A: 0.05 simply can't be bigger than 0.5

B is wrong because they aren't equal to each other

and D is wrong because 0.05 + 0.5 = 0.55

I need help before time run out
valentina_108 [34]
The answer is D. You are just adding 8 to the number of hours you work because you earn 8 dollars an hour, or you can just multiply the number of hours by the wage you get paid and you would get the your gross pay. It would also be in quadrant 1 because all the numbers are positive and quadrant 1 is all positive numbers not like the other quadrants where there is either all negative numbers or some positive numbers and some negative numbers. But to make things shorter the answer is D.

A brand new filled jar of salsa is 11 cm tall and a has a radius of 6 cm. Kelly eats some of the salsa and the salsa in the jar
Sonbull [250]

Before we begin please note that a jar is always cylindrical in shape if not mentioned otherwise. Thus, we will take a cylindrical jar in this case.

Since Kelly eats some of the salsa and the salsa in the jar is now 6 cm high, we know that Kelly ate the amount of Salsa whose volume is missing from the jar.

To find the missing volume on the Salsa jar all that we need to do is to find the height of the missing volume which is given to us as h= 6 cm. We already know that the radius of the jar, r=6 cm. Thus, the amount of Salsa Kelly has eaten is:

V=\pi(6)^2\times 6\approx678.6\approx679 cm^3

Thus, the third option is the correct answer

Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

Top line: y = (2/3)x + 2

Bottom line:  y = (2/3)x  -1

Discussion:

The graph provided is hard to read but I did the best I could.

The top line appears to pass through the points (0,2) and (-3,0)

For this line

m =  change y /change x = (0-2)/(-3-0) = -2/-3 = +2/3. So

y = mx + b => y = (2/3) x+ b.  As the line passes through (0,2) set x = 0, y= 2 in y = (2/3)x + b =>

2 = (2/3) 0 + b   => b = 2

Therefore    y = (2/3)x + 2

The bottom line appears to pass through the points (0,-1) and (3,1)

For this line

m =  change y /change x = (1-(-1)) /(3-0) = +2/-3. So

y = mx + b => y = (2/3) x+ b.  As the line passes through (0,-1) set x = 0, y= -1  in y = (2/3)x + b =>

-1  = (2/3) 0 + b   => b = -1

Therefore    y = (2/3)x + -1

Thank you,

MrB
