The humanist poets and writers during the Renaissance period sought to reconnect with the text of the Roman Empire. The manuals of the Roman Empire came to be known as classic literary texts. Those who studied Latin classics came to be known as humanists. These humanists like Francesco Petrarca (Petrarch) tried to reconnect with the philosophy of classic that included, human nature and achievements of the past.
