Answer:

Sam has to run 50 yards to catch up with Naomi.

Solution:

Given that Sam and Naomi are having a race.

Sam runs 5 yards for every 3 yards Naomi runs.

This means that when Naomi runs 3 \times x that is 3x yards, Sam runs 5 \times x that is 5x yards.

Also Sam gives Naomi a 20 yard head start

Let say Sam catch up Naomi at point A.

Let say Naomi run 3x yard to reach point A. So Sam ran 5x yards to reach point A.

Distance need to covered by Sam = distance covered by Naomi + 20 yard head start

=>5x = 3x + 20

=>5x – 3x = 20

=> 2x = 20

=> x = 10

Number of yards covered by Sam to reach catching point A = 5x = 5 \times 10 = 50 yards

Hence Sam have to run 50 yards to catch up with Naomi.

Complete the table for the given rule y=x/4
vichka [17]
Since they only give you the y values in the table, it would be easier if you isolated the x in the rule:

y = x/4

Multiply both sides by 4

4y = x

Now you can simply substitute the y values into the rule to get the x

4(4) = 16

4(2) = 8

4(9) = 36

~~hope this helps~~

What is the cube root of 512 m^2n^15
galben [10]

Answer:

8

Step-by-step explanation:

It depends what mathematics you know

Perhaps the most basic way would be by approximation. You could start with, say, 5. 5*5*5= 125. Then 5 is to small to be the cube root of 512.

Try 10: 10*10*10=1000: Too bi. But now we know that the number we want is between 5 and 10.

Try 8: 8*8*8=512.

If two lines intersect and one angle measures 35º, what are the measures of the other angles?
goblinko [34]
One of the other angles will also be 35°.

Because the sum of all the angles will equal to 360, and two of the angles are 35° and 35+35 is 100, the sum of the last two angles will be 260 because 360-100 is 260.

This means that since the last 2 angles are the same and they add up to 260, you divide 260 by 2 to get 130.

This means the last two angles are 130°.

The measures of all the other angles are 35°, 130° and 130° again.
