The square of a binomial:
(a+b)² =a²+2 a b+b², or: (a-b)²=a²-2 a b+b²
In this case:  a=x,  2 x b = 16 x   ⇒  b=8  ,     b²=8²=64
(x-8)²=x²- 16 x + 64

To make that a perfect square polynomial,
follow these steps:
1. Take the co-efficient of x term: here -16
2. Divide it by 2: -16/2 = -8
3. Square it. : (-8)^2 = 64

Thats it! 64 is the missing term you need :)

What is the Slope of the line
vampirchik [111]

Answer:

m=\frac{-3}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Slope Formula: m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Simply plug in 2 coordinates into the slope formula to find slope <em>m</em>:

m=\frac{-4-(-1)}{5-1}

m=\frac{-4+1}{4}

m=\frac{-3}{4}

The area of a triangle is 24sq inches. If the base of the triangle is 6 inches, what is the height?
Helen [10]

Answer:

8 inches

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the area of a triangle, we use the formula

A = 1/2 bh where b is the length of the base and h is the height

A = 24 and b = 6

24 = 1/2 (6) * h

24 =3h

Divide each side by 3

24/3 = 3h/3

8 =h

The height is 8 inches

Y is directly related to X , and Y is 81 when X is 27.<br><br> The constant of variation is
zhenek [66]
Since x and y are directly related, the equation for their comparison will look like

kx = y

where k is your constant. They give you an instance in the problem where x = 27 and y = 81. Plug this into the above equation and solve for k.

kx = y
k (27) = 81
k = 3

Thus, the constant of variation is 3.
