I'm pretty sure you just do basic algebra. you would subtract 2n from both sides. then its 14n-2n= 12n. then 12n + 2= 3.2 do you know what to do from there?

1.4n+2=2n+3.2  Isolate the variable by itself by performing reverse operations on both side of the equatoin...

subtract 2n from both sides...

-0.6n+2=3.2  subtract 2 from both sides

-0.6n=1.2  divide both sides by -0.6

n=2

Ad libitum [116K]

Answer:

The Sample Size Need To be at least 114

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Question,

  • Given, A university dean of students wishes to estimate the average number of hours students spend doing homework per week. The standard deviation from a previous study is 6.2 hours.

The Maximum Error(E) is given as 1.5 hours and the standard deviation(σ) is 6.2 hours.

  • Now, For 99% Confident the level of value α is 0.01.

α/2 = 0.01/2 ⇒ 0.005

  • Thus, From The table, We get that the value of Z_{alpha/2} is 2.58.

Hence, the sample size n can be found as

n = {\frac{(Z_{alpha/2} * Standard Deviation)}{E}}²

n = {2.58 × 6.2}² / 1.5²

n = 113.72 .

So, The Sample Size Need To be at least 114.

Answer:

5 over 5

Step-by-step explanation:

You can see that 20x 5 is needed to get the denominator of 100, so you need to multiply the top by 5 too, to get 85/100. Hope this helps.

Evaluate the sum of the following finite geometric series.
rjkz [21]

Answer:

\large\boxed{\dfrac{156}{125}\approx1.2}

Step-by-step explanation:

<h3>Method 1:</h3>

\sum\limits_{n=1}^4\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-1}\\\\for\ n=1\\\\\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{1-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^0=1\\\\for\ n=2\\\\\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{2-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^1=\dfrac{1}{5}\\\\for\ n=3\\\\\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{3-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^2=\dfrac{1}{25}\\\\for\ n=4\\\\\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{4-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^3=\dfrac{1}{125}

\sum\limits_{n=1}^4\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-1}=1+\dfrac{1}{5}+\dfrac{1}{25}+\dfrac{1}{125}=\dfrac{125}{125}+\dfrac{25}{125}+\dfrac{5}{125}+\dfrac{1}{125}=\dfrac{156}{125}

<h3>Method 2:</h3>

\sum\limits_{n=1}^4\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-1}\to a_n=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-1}\\\\\text{The formula of a sum of terms of a geometric series:}\\\\S_n=a_1\cdot\dfrac{1-r^n}{1-r}\\\\r-\text{common ratio}\to r=\dfrac{a_{n+1}}{a_n}\\\\a_{n+1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n+1-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^n\\\\r=\dfrac{\left(\frac{1}{5}\right)^n}{\left(\frac{1}{5}\right)^{n-1}}\qquad\text{use}\ \dfrac{a^n}{a^m}=a^{n-m}\\\\r=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-(n-1)}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{n-n+1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^1=\dfrac{1}{5}

a_1=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^{1-1}=\left(\dfrac{1}{5}\right)^0=1

\text{Substitute}\ a_1=1,\ n=4,\ r=\dfrac{1}{5}:\\\\S_4=1\cdot\dfrac{1-\left(\frac{1}{5}\right)^4}{1-\frac{1}{5}}=\dfrac{1-\frac{1}{625}}{\frac{4}{5}}=\dfrac{624}{625}\cdot\dfrac{5}{4}=\dfrac{156}{125}
