19.

A) 84 : 120 --) 7 : 10, I came up with it by knowing x, # of times ordered,

7(x) : 3(x) sum will be 120 and guessed from there.

B) Well I came up with it trying to get the ratio for A, 84 smoothies.

C) 84 ( smoothies) - 36 ( juice drinks)

20.

A) Ok you first have the birds from the first hour which sum up to 24. Then to calculate what of how many birds you saw for the second hour you use the ratio 2 (cardinals) : 3 ( chickadees) : 3 ( pigeons). Now before you use the ratio you need to know how many birds out of the 36 have not been seen in the first hour so just subtract 36 - 24 = 12. Next you figure out what number you can multiply every bird against to get a sum of 12 birds in total. I figured out it's 1.5 as a multiplier. I know physically it's not possible, but I did all the steps correct and apparently they don't care it's not realistic. I hope this helps you on the homework sheet.

In rectangle ABCD, point E lies half way between sides AB and CD and halfway between sides AD and BC. If AB=3 and BC=2, what is
Alex777 [14]

Answer:

<em>The area of the shaded region is 3.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

Since point E lies halfway between AB and BC, the area of the shaded region (As) consists of two identical triangles with base equal to AB and height equal to half the measure of BC:

A_s=2 * A_t

Where At is the area of each triangle.

\displaystyle A_t=\frac{AB*BC/2}{2}

\displaystyle A_t=\frac{AB*BC}{4}

We know AB=3 and BC=2, thus:

\displaystyle A_t=\frac{3*2}{4}=\frac{6}{4}

Simplifying:

\displaystyle A_t=\frac{3}{2}

Finally:

\displaystyle A_s=2 * \frac{3}{2}

A_s=3

The area of the shaded region is 3.

Note the area of the shaded region is half the area of the rectangle.

Audrey has $111 to spend on a tennis racket and lessons. The racket costs $55 and the lessons cost $14 per hour. Define a variab
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

Audrey can afford 4 hours of lesson.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Amount Audrey has to spend = $111

Cost of racket = $55

Cost per lesson = $14

Let,

y be the total cost

x be the number of hours

According to given statement;

y = 14x + 55

111 = 14x + 55

111 - 55 = 14x

14x = 56

Dividing both sides by 14

\frac{14x}{14}=\frac{56}{14}\\x=4

Hence,

Audrey can afford 4 hours of lesson.
