Multiple people had different views on what they wanted so in order to satisfy everyone there was a compromise of multiple parties for the extensive views

The election was between John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. It was a battle between Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. Thomas Jefferson win supporting the Democratic-Republicans. John Adams lost who supported the Federalists. So because of Jefferson we now have the Democratic-Republican party.
