Carbohydrates can be simple or complex. Glucose is an example of simple carbohydrates and Starch is an example of complex carbohydrates.

Sucrose, glucose, fructose are examples of simple carbohydrates they can be digested easily. The main characteristic of simple carbohydrates are that they form the base in the making of all carbohydrates. Lactose is generally found in milk which is another example of simple carbohydrates.
