The answer to this is Diagnostic. It helps the doctors test the patient to see if he/she has cancer because having too much white blood cells could cause cancer or certain types of diseases. Plus the doctor would use a blood lab work in order to determine how much the person has white blood cells in the patient's blood. The lab could also test how much the patient has red blood cells in the blood.
A RN Nurse would be better and quicker and a good start. Many schools are forwarding that position and beginning to make classes about it, as the nurse job is the future.
