The cognitive abilities test was originated by Irving Lorge and R.L. Thorndike and first published in 1954 as the Lorge-Thorndike Intelligence Test
The Test is abbreviated CogAT and is a K–12 assessment test which is group administered and is done to evaluate/estimate students' learned reasoning and problem solving abilities using a combination of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal tests.
A cognitive ability test refers to a test that is used to measure the cognitive function related to an individual in a specific area. This area could be verbal reasoning, spatial awareness, or something related to mathematics.
This test is also utilized by some organizations during the recruitment process as a way to know or predict the aptitude that a candidate could have concerning the position. This test has been criticized because some people consider that it fails in terms of cultural biases.
