A + k = 600
k = 2/3a

a + 2/3a = 600
3/3a + 2/3a = 600
5/3a = 600
a = 600 * 3/5
a = 1800/5
a = 360

k = 2/3a
k = 2/3(360)
k = 720/3
k = 240

so Kim's pay is $ 240 and Alicia's pay is $ 360

Start by adding 2 to both sides to get 3r^2 = 48. then divide both sides by 3 to get r^2 = 16. square root both sides to get r = 4.
