Answer:

  • first mechanic: $105/hour
  • second mechanic: $55/hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Let r represent the rate charged by the first mechanic. Then 160-r is the rate charged by the second mechanic. The total of charges is ...

  20r +5(160-r) = 2375

  15r +800 = 2375 . . . . . . eliminate parentheses

  15r = 1575 . . . . . . . . . . . . subtract 800

  r = 105 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . divide by 15. First mechanic's rate.

  160-r = 55 . . . . . Second mechanic's rate

The first mechanic charged $105 per hour; the second, $55 per hour.

Answer: the rate charged per hour by the first mechanic is 105 per hour.

the rate charged per hour by the second mechanic is 55 per hour.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the rate charged per hour by the first mechanic.

Let y represent the rate charged per hour by the second mechanic.

The first mechanic worked for 20 hours, and the second mechanic worked for 5 hours. Together they charged a total of 2375. This means that

20x + 5y = 2375 - - - - - - - - - - -1

if the sum of the two rates was 160 per hour, it means that

x + y = 160

Substituting x = 160 - y into equation 1, it becomes.

20(160 - y) + 5y = 2375

3200 - 20y + 5y = 2375

- 20y + 5y = 2375 - 3200

- 15y = - 825

y = - 825/ - 15

y = 55

x = 160 - y = 160 - 55

x = 105

Answer:

x = 20

Step-by-step explanation:

19 < x < 25

x had to be higher than 19 but lower than 25

18 cant be the answer because it is less than 19

27 cant be the answer because it is higher than 25

that leaves 20, which is the right answer

19 < 20 < 25

Solve x3 = 64 over 27.
const2013 [10]

x^3 = 64/27

x^3 = (4*4*4)/(3*3*3)

x^3 = (4/3)^3

x = 4/3

ans is d

The value of a car is expected to decrease exponentially. Which formula can you use to predict the value of the car for a given
IgorLugansk [536]
Hey there!

When the value of something goes down over time- a house, a car, anything- it's called depreciation.

It would be expressed as exponential decay. This is because the value is going down exponentially as stated in the problem. Additionally, when it decays, the growth factor is less than one, so the value steadily decreases.

Let's rule out our other options:

B) Half-Life. This doesn't work because it's usually used for radioactive decay, which is usually a steady decrease of radioactivity and material that divides by two, hence the word half. For example:

Day 0) Started with 10 grams of plutonium
Day 1) 5 grams
Day 2) 2.5 grams

And so on.

C) Compound Interest. Like simple interest, but compunds usually at a certain point - yearly, monthly, every ten years, and so on. But, this is used for interest, mostly in a bank account or if you have a loan. It doesn't exhibit depreciation, and therefore it's not used to predict car value.

D) Exponential Growth- Exponential growth does not work for one main reason - it grows. That would mean that the value of the car goes up- and unless it's an old and very expensive car, that wouldn't be the case.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

Ron got 3 additional toppings

Step-by-step explanation:

Lets call the amount of toppings that Ron got t. With this, we can set up the following equation:

8.95+0.65t=10.90

Subtract 8.95 from both sides:

0.65t=1.95

Divide both sides by 0.65:

t=3

Hope this helps!
