Animals can be identified by their four basic characteristics. These characteristics are movement, sounds, distinctive markings and of course their group behavior. The group behavior of animals may be influenced by their interaction with their surroundings, their peers and a specific time of their life cycle.
There would be no release of organic nitrogen molecules back to their inorganic state. Dead material would accumulate to choke out livable habitat.
