Shiloh is 7 years older than Courtney. Shiloh's age is 13 years less than two times Courtney's age. The system below models the

relationship between Shiloh's age (s) and Courtney's age (c):
s = c + 7
s = 2c − 13

Which of the following methods is correct to find Shiloh's and Courtney's age?

Solve s + 7 = 2s − 13 to find the value of s.
Solve c + 7 = 2c − 13 to find the value of c.
Write the points where the graphs of the equations intersect the x-axis.
Write the points where the graphs of the equations intersect the y-axis.

Because both of the equations = s, we can set them equal to each other.

c + 7 = 2c - 13.  Now we can solve for c.  Once you have found c, you can substitute it back into either of the two original equations and solve for s.

MArishka [77]

Answer:

h = 33 hours

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that,

Addison worked 6 more hours this week than last week. In total, she worked 72 hours this week and last week.

The equation is :

2h + 6 = 72

We need to find the number of hours

2h = 72 - 6

2h = 66

h = 33

Hence, Adison worked for 33 hours last week.

An engineer stands 200 feet from a tower and sights the top of the tower at a 45° angle of elevation. Find the height of the tow
Alik [6]
Drawing a diagram of a triangle may be helpful. The hypotenuse is irrelevant, but the vertical leg and the horizontal leg are useful. Since we know the engineer is looking up at a 45 degree angle from a distance of 200 feet, we can label the vertical leg the "opposite", since it is on the opposite side of the angle we are given. The horizontal leg then becomes the "adjacent". You can then use trigonometry to solve for the opposite.
The options are:
sin(theta)= opposite/hypotenuse
cos(theta)= adjacent/hypotenuse
tan(theta)= opposite/adjacent
Since we don't care about the hypotenuse, the last equation is the one to use. The angle we are given can be substituted in for theta:
tan(45)= x/200
1.61977519= x/200
x= 323.955038 feet
