Brenda has a square-shaped photo frame. If the area of the square frame is 123 square inches, which statement is true? The lengt
alex41 [277]
It would be between 11 and 12 because 11 times 11 = 121 and that is smaller than 123. Also 12 times 12 is 144 and 12 a whole number.

Can anyone help me with this problem
8_murik_8 [283]
They way I would do it other than with a calculator would be
27 x (90 - 0.5) which is the same as 27 x 89.5
=> 27 x 90 - 27 x 0.5
27 x 90 is (3 x 9) x 90 or 3 x 9 x 90
9 x 90 = 810
3 x 810 = 2430
Then subtract 27 x 0.5, or 27 / 2
2430 - 27 / 2
=> 2430 - 13.5
= 2416.5

Final answer:
2416.5
Hope I helped :)

Which situation could NOT represent a proportional relationship?
Serhud [2]

Answer:

The weight in x weeks of a puppy that gains 2 pounds per week if it starting weight is 8 pounds.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

A proportional relationship is one in which one variable varies directly with the other. Let the dependent variable be y and independent variable be y.

If y is directly proportional to x, then,

y=kx, where, k is a constant of proportionality.

Now, let us check each option and try to express a relationship between them.

Option 1:

The weight in x weeks of a puppy that gains 2 pounds per week if it starting weight is 8 pounds.

Let the weight be represented by W. Initial weight is 8 pounds.

Weight gain per week is 2 pounds. So, weight gain in x weeks is 2x.

Therefore, total weight is, W=8+2x

This is a linear relationship but not a proportional relationship as it is not of the form y=kx. So, option 1 could NOT represent a proportional relationship.

Option 2:

Cost of purchasing 1 pound of bananas is $ 0.55. So, cost of purchasing p pounds of bananas will be C=0.55p. It is of the form y=kx. So, it represents a proportional relationship.

Option 3:

Number of gallons of water in 1 barrel is 50. So, number of gallons in x barrels will be N=50x. It is of the form y=kx. So, it represents a proportional relationship.

Option 4:

Amount earned by an employee in 1 hour is $ 9.25. So, amount earned in h hours will be A=9.25h. It is of the form y=kx. So, it represents a proportional relationship.

sue has 100 dimes and quarters. if the total value of the coins is $21.40, how many of each kind of coin does she have?
creativ13 [48]

Answer:

Thus, Sue has  24  dimes and  76  quarters.

steps:

Let  d  be the number of dimes Sue has and let  q  be the number of quarters As she has  2140  cents total, a dime is worth  10  cents, and a quarter is worth  25  cents, we obtain the following system of equations:

{ d + q = 100

10 d + 25 q = 2140

From the first equation, we have

d = 100 − q

Substituting that into the second equation, we have

10 ( 100 − q ) + 25 q = 2140

⇒ 1000 − 10 q + 25 q = 2140

⇒ 15 q = 1140

⇒ q= 1140 /15 = 76

Knowing that  q = 76  we can substitute that value into the first equation to obtain

d + 76 = 100

∴ d = 24
