A quality control technician works in a factory that produces computer monitors. Each day, she randomly selects monitors and tes

ts them to make sure that they do not have any dead pixels. Over the course of a month, she tested 300 monitors and found 24 monitors with dead pixels. The technician conducts a one-proportion hypothesis test at the 5% significance level, to test whether the true proportion of monitors with dead pixels is greater than 5%.
a. H0:p=0.05; Ha:p>0.05, which is a right-tailed test.
b. Use Excel to test whether the true proportion of monitors with dead pixels is greater than 5%. Identify the test statistic, z, and p-value, rounding to three decimal places.

Answer:

There is enough evidence to support the claim that the true proportion of monitors with dead pixels is greater than 5%.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given the following in the question:

Sample size, n = 300

p = 5% = 0.05

Alpha, α = 0.05

Number of dead pixels , x = 24

First, we design the null and the alternate hypothesis

H_{0}: p = 0.05\\H_A: p > 0.05

This is a one-tailed(right) test.

Formula:

\hat{p} = \dfrac{x}{n} = \dfrac{24}{300} = 0.08

z = \dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}}

Putting the values, we get,

z = \displaystyle\frac{0.08-0.05}{\sqrt{\frac{0.05(1-0.05)}{300}}} = 2.384

Now, we calculate the p-value from excel.

P-value = 0.00856

Since the p-value is smaller than the significance level, we fail to accept the null hypothesis and reject it. We accept the alternate hypothesis.

Conclusion:

Thus, there is enough evidence to support the claim that the true proportion of monitors with dead pixels is greater than 5%.

Solve using elimination x-2y=10 and x+3y=5
Zina [86]
Multiply the equation (x-2y=10) by -1
-x+2y=-10
x+3y=5
The x’s cancel out
2y=-10
3y=5
Combine
5y=-5
Divide both sides by 5
y=-1
Plug in y to either original equation
x-2(-1)=10
x+2=10
Subtract 2 from both sides
x=8, y=-1

What is the x-component of the electric field at (x, y) = (0 m, 4 m)??
Elza [17]
(a)Two charges are placed on the x-axis: one is placed at x = 3 m and the other is at x = -3 m. The magnitude of both charges is 2.3 µC but the blue one (at x = -3 m) is positive while the red one (at x = +3 m) is negative.

What are the x- and y-components of the electric field at (x, y) = (0 m, +4 m)?

(b) Now the positive and negative charge switch places. The magnitude of the charges is still 2.3 µC where the blue one (now at x = +3 m) is positive and the red one (now at x = -3 m) is negative.

What are the x- and y-components of the electric field at (x, y) = (0 m, +4 m)?

(c) Now both charges (still at x = -3 m and x = +3 m) are positive. The magnitude of both charges is still 2.3 µC.

What are the x- and y-components of the electric field at (x, y) = (0 m, +4 m)?

(d) Finally, both charges (still at x = -3 m and x = +3 m) are negative. The magnitude of both charges is still 2.3 µC.

A user car dealer brought a car for $12,000 and wants to sell it at a 15% profit. How much should he sell the car for?
Snezhnost [94]

Answer:

$13,800

Step-by-step explanation:

She sells the car for 115% of the value of the car, because she wants a 15% profit. 115% of 12000 is the same as 12000*1.15, since 115% is eqaul to 1.15. 12000*1.15 = 13800
