\ell_1 and \ell_2 are parallel to one another with slope 1. Any line with slope -1 is perpendicular to both of these lines, the simplest being y=-x.

This perpendicular line intersects \ell_1 and \ell_2 at the points (5/2, -5/2) and (1/2, -1/2), respectively.

The distance between \ell_1 and \ell_2 is the same as the distance between these two intersections:

\sqrt{\left(\dfrac52-\dfrac12\right)^2+\left(-\dfrac52+\dfrac12\right)^2}=2\sqrt2\approx\boxed{2.8}

Please help!!!
Goryan [66]

Answer:

64^{\circ}

Step-by-step explanation:

~~~~~~\cos \angle E = \sin \angle F\\\\\implies \cos 26^{\circ} = \sin \angle F\\ \\\implies \angle F = \sin^{-1} \left( \cos 26^{\circ} \right)\\\\\implies \angle F = \sin^{-1} \left(\sin(90^{\circ}-26^{\circ}) \right)\\\\\implies \angle F = \sin^{-1} \left( \sin 64^{\circ} \right)\\\\\implies \angle F = 64^{\circ}
kakasveta [241]
A teacher's perspective...I really want to believe the intent of this site was a good one. Getting help with homework is a good idea. But brainly has become a cheat site for many students. I catch so many who admit later that they searched the question, found the answer, copied & pasted, and never try to understand the problem or its answer. I warn them that the answers from brainly are often wrong, or have strange approaches. (Like using calculus to find the vertex in Algebra, for example.) And I've heard from school administrators that brainly won't remove their curriculum test and quiz answers from the site. The sad part is that this sets up students to struggle more moving forward, and doesn't help in the long run. How do I know? I tutor kids who cheat their way through online courses and then freak out when they have to prepare for SATs or placement tests. This site was already moving in this direction when it was Open Study, but has gotten even worse with the pay wall and premium accounts. It upsets me that a site alleging to be educational is profiting from cheating and hurting students in the long run.
