x² - 6x + 5 = 0

x² - x - 5x + 5 = 0

x(x - 1) - 5(x - 1) = 0

(x - 5)(x - 1) = 0

x - 5 = 0 => x₁ = 5

x - 1 = 0 => x₂ = 1

4 0

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

x^{2} - 6x +5 = 0

x^{2} - 6x + 9 -9 +5 = 0

[x^{2} - 6x + 9] - 4 =0

(x -3)^{2} -4 = 0

(x -3)^{2} = 4

(x-3) = \sqrt{4} or (x-3) = - \sqrt{4}

(x-3) = 2 or (x-3) = -2

x = 5 or x = 1

therefore, sum of these solutions is 5+1 = 6

Find the length of B to the nearest tenth using the Pythagorean theorem.
fgiga [73]
The answer is 11.2

The Pythagorean Theorem says
a^2+b^2=c^2

From the picture, we know one side, and the hypotenuse.

10^2+b^2=15^2
100+b^2=225
b^2=225
Sqrtb^2=sqrt225
b=11.18

Rounded to the nearest tenth it is 11.2
