81ft(yd/3ft)*111ft(yd/3ft)*2in(yd/36in)=55.5 yd^3

So 55 1/2 cubic yards of topsoil are needed.

Answer:  55.5 cubic yards topsoil are needed .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : The riches are ordering topsoil for their new lawn.

The topsoil will be spread evenly over the yard before the grass is planted the yard is 81 feet wide and 111 feet long the topsoil will be spread 2 inches deep .

We Know that 1 yard = 3 feet

And 1 feet = 12 inches

Then , the length  : l=\dfrac{81}{3}=27\text{ yards}

Width : w=\dfrac{111}{3}=37\text{ yards}

Depth : h=\dfrac{2}{12\times3}=\dfrac{1}{18}\text{ yards}

The volume of rectangular prism is given by :-

V=l\times w\times h

i.e. V=27\times 37\times \dfrac{1}{18}=55.5\text{ cubic yards}

Mike is pouring a two foot cement sidewalk around the perimeter of his swimming pool. His swimming pool measures 6 feet by 14 fe
frosja888 [35]
9 inches * 1 foot / 12 inches
= 3/4 feet deep

Area of the sidewalk:
= the sides of the pool * the width of the sidewalk + the corners of the sidewalk (width * width)
= 2 sides * 6 (feet / side) * 2 feet + 2 sides * 14 (feet / side) * 2 feet + 4 corners * (2 feet * 2 feet / corner)
= 12 feet * 2 feet + 28 feet * 2 feet + 4 * 2 feet * 2 feet
= 24 feet^2 + 56 feet^2 + 16 feet^2
= 96 feet^2

Volume:
= 96 feet^2 * 3/4 feet
= (96 * 3 / 4) feet^3
= (19 * 3) feet^3
= 57 feet^3
