Articular articular cartilage is very important part of the long bone structure. It also act as a shock absorber between the two bones and helps in the transmission of force from one phone to another and divide the force across the skeletal system. Articular cartilage is made up of hyaline cartilage and is made up of densely packed extracellular matrix which certain type of specialised cells known as chondrocytes. It is also made up of water , collagen , proteoglycans and glycoproteins .
