A group of students is investigating whether the smoothness of surface affects the force of friction. Each student pushes a book

on two different surfaces. One surface is ice and the other is concrete. The distance traveled by the book on each surface is shown. Experimental Observations Student 1 Student 2 Student 3 Student 4 Distance traveled by book on ice 23 cm 21 cm 24 cm 22 cm Distance traveled by book on concrete 15 cm 18 cm 16 cm 17 cm Based on the table, which conclusion is correct about the average distance traveled?

To find the average (aka mean) of a group of numbers, all we need to do is add them up then divide that number by how many numbers we started with

23 + 21 + 24 + 22 = 90

90 ÷ 4 = 22.5

Therefore, the average distance the book traveled on ice is 22.5 cm

15 + 18 + 16 + 17 = 66

66 ÷ 4 = 16.5

Therefore, the average distance the book traveled on concrete is 16.5 cm

In conclusion, the average distance the book traveled on ice is greater than the average distance the book traveled on concrete

Hope this helps you

A 61 kg zebra is traveling 8 m/s east. What is the zebra’s momentum?
klemol [59]
Momentum = Mass × Velocity
                   = 61 × 8
                   = 488 kg m/s east
                   = 500 kg m/s east

Momentum is a vector quantity which means it has a direction as well as a numerical value (fancy word for this is magnitude). This means the final answer should also be in the direction "east".
Furthermore due to the significant figures in the question, the final answer should also be given to 1 sig fig (500) but if you don't want to then I imagine 488 is acceptable. (It's like this because we don't know how accurate we can be with the final answer from the numbers in the question.)
