If I could travel anywhere in the world I would choose Europe. I picked Europe because there are so many places and sights to see. Some places I would visit in Europe are The Eiffel Tower because it is so pretty at night time.  Rome, the Eternal City perched on seven hills, home to the magnificent Colosseum and the iconic Trevi Fountain. Paris is also a place I want to visit. Some foods I would like to try are macaroons, crepes, and cannolis. Paris is known for all of the stores and shops too. I would also want to visit and shop around Europe just as an experience myself. Europe is quite known for fashion as well these are some reason why I would want to visit Europe.

What is the central idea of the passage? Colonialism in the United States
Inessa05 [86]
The correct answer is the second one. Lodge argues that Americans should stop mimicking other cultures and be proud of their own culture.

He argues that America must be "truly national and independent intellectually." He also says that we should "not look to foreigners in order to find out what they think." At the end of the essay, he writes that "the colonial spirit...is a mean and noxious thing, which cannot be too quickly or too thoroughly stamped out."

Lodge wants Americans to be American and not a part of another culture.

The opened the door, and a bat flew away and a chilly wind swept into the room, they slightly shuddered but went in any way.

Like a typical horror flick, the lights began to flicker on and off and the door behind them was tightly shut by an invisible hand. This was not enough to make them scared.

It was when a skeletal hand touched then from behind that they screamed...
