You have established that c = -2 in question 4.

From the graph, the point g(3)=0 seems usable, so let's go with that.

g(3) = a·b³ - 2 = 0, so a = 2/b³

g(2) = -1 seems also plotted, so g(2) = a·b² - 2 = -1 ⇒ a = 1/b²

Solve for b gives:

2/b³ = 1/b² ⇒ (multiply by b³) 2 = b

From this you can find a=1/4

Note that this is only true if indeed g(3)=0 and g(2)=-1. I just assume that from the graph.

Help quick Given f(x) and g(x) = k⋅f(x), use the graph to determine the value of k.
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Answer:

k = -3

Step-by-step explanation:

F(x) has a positive slope

g(x) has a negative slope

Let x = -3

The y value goes from 1 to -3

g(x) = k⋅f(x)

-3 = k(1)

-3 = k

A circle centered at the origin contains the point
valentina_108 [34]

Answer:

Yes, the distance from the origin to the point (8,√17) is 9 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a circle centered at the origin with radius , r has equation:

{x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  =  {r}^{2}

Since the circle passes through (0,-9), the radius is 9 units because (0,-9) is 9 units from the origin.

We substitute the radius to get:

{x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  =  {9}^{2}

{x}^{2}  +  {y}^{2}  =  81

If (8,√17) lies on this circle, then it must satisfy this equation:

{8}^{2}  +  { (\sqrt{17} )}^{2}  = 64 + 17 = 81

This is True.

This means the distance from (8,√17) is 9 units from the origin.
