There are patients who seem to be uncomfortable in regards to examination of their skin thus as a medical assistant there are ways to help the patient to be comfortable. One of it is to provide privacy by exposing only the needed area for examination and can provide like a blanket for the other areas. Also make sure to examine the patient in a room or in an area covered with curtain to maintain privacy as well.

If the patient is uncomfortable with having their skin examined, the medical assistant must demonstrate great respect by showing empathy using calm words, asking them if they need special draping or who needs to be there during the examination. It is also comforting that the medical assistant will completely closed the exam room and never let anyone enter the room until the patient is completely covered.

Other ways to show professionalism is to accommodate any needs of the patient, making sure to never embarrass them and never being judgmental.
