Answer:

The equation is y = -3x.

The function is linear.

The point (2, -6) is on the graph of the function.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>The function is linear.</u>

direct variation function is always linear. and linear means a straight line which is true in this case

<u>The equation is y = -3x.</u>

equation of line is y=mx+c

where, m=slope= -3.

it is linear so we are assuming it passes origin, (0,0).

m=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

now substituting m=-3 and (0,0) in x1 and y1.

-3=(y2-0)/(x2-0)

-3=y2/x2

y2=-3*x2

where y2=y, x2=x,

therefore,

y=-3x.

<u>The point (2, -6) is on the graph of the function</u>.

now,

y=-3x

substituting x=2,

y=-3(2)

y=-6

therefore,

if x=2, y=-6, (2,-6)

The solution to an absolute value inequality is shown on the graph below.
lawyer [7]

The solution to the absolute value inequality is (-3,-2)

<h3>How to determine the absolute inequality?</h3>

On the absolute value inequality, we have:

Interval = -3 to 2

The intervals are represented with open circles.

This means that -3 and 2 are exclusive of the values of the inequality.

So, we have:

-3 < x < 2

As an interval notation, we have:

(-3,-2)

Hence, the solution to the absolute value inequality is (-3,-2)

An equilateral triangle has side of 46cm in length. How long is each altitude of the triangle (to the nearest tenth of a centime
Inessa05 [86]
Since it is an equilateral triangle, all sides are the same, so all amplitudes are the same.
You should use the pythagorean theorem to find the altitude.
How?:
1) Split the triangle in half. You will now have a right triangle with side C=46 and either A or B= 23.
2)Now plug these values into the equation(I chose to plug 23 in as A)
a^2 +b^2=c^2.
3) This gives you:
23^2+b^2=46^2
4) Isolate the variable and solve:
23^2+b^2=46^2
b^2=46^2-23^2
b^2=1587
5) The square root of 1587 is 39.8

The answer is 39.8 cm:)

Find the missing length.<br>C= ✓ [?]<br>2<br>6<br>Pythagorean Theorem: a2 + b2 = c2
mash [69]

Answer:

c = 6.32

Step-by-step explanation:

{a}^{2} +   {b}^{2}  =  {c}^{2}  \\  {2}^{2}  +  {6}^{2}  = {c}^{2}  \\ 4 + 36 =  {c}^{2}  \\ 40 =   {c}^{2}  \\ c =  \sqrt{40}  \\ c = 6.32
