The revenue, in dollars, of a company that makes toy cars can be modeled by the polynomial 3x^2 + 4x – 60. The cost, in dollars,

of producing the toy cars can be modeled by 3x^2 – x + 200. The number of toy cars sold is represented by x.
If the profit is the difference between the revenue and the cost, what expression represents the profit?
3x – 260
3x + 140

<h2>Answer:</h2>

The expression which represents profit is:

                             5x-260

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

The number of toy cars sold is represented by: x.

Now, the revenue, in dollars of a company is given by the polynomial function:

R(x)=3x^2+4x-60

and the cost, in dollars of producing the toy car is given by the polynomial expression:

C(x)=3x^2-x=200

Also, let P(x) denote the profit function.

It is given that:

Profit is the difference between the revenue and the cost.

i.e.

Profit=R(x)-C(x)\\\\i.e.\\\\P(x)=R(x)-C(x)\\\\i.e.\\\\P(x)=3x^2+4x-60-(3x^2-x+200)

( Now we know that if the sign before the parentheses is negative then the terms inside the parentheses open up with opposite signs)

i.e.

P(x)=3x^2+4x-60-3x^2+x-200\\\\i.e.\\\\P(x)=3x^2-3x^2+4x+x-6-200

( Since, on combining the like terms)

i.e.

P(x)=5x-260

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lapo4ka [179]
Well...   the segment FG = 4x + 3, the segment GH = 7x - 12, now, the

segment FH = FG + GH, those two fellows added up, and we know that FG and GH are both equal halves because G is the midpoint.

thus, FG = GH
or

\bf 4x+3=7x-12\implies 3+12=7x-4x\implies 15=3x&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\cfrac{15}{3}=x\implies \boxed{5=x}\\\\&#10;-------------------------------\\\\&#10;thus\qquad &#10;\begin{cases}&#10;\overline{FG}=4x+3\\&#10;4(5)+3\\&#10;23\\&#10;------\\&#10;\overline{GH}=7x-12\\&#10;7(5)-12\\&#10;23&#10;\end{cases}\impliedby equal\ halves&#10;\\\\\\&#10;\overline{FH}=23+23\implies \overline{FH}=46\implies 6y-2=46&#10;\\\\\\&#10;6y=46+2\implies y=\cfrac{48}{6}

and fairly sure, you know how much that is.

Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

1, 4/5,2/5

Step-by-step explanation:

y = 5x

Let y = 5

5 = 5x

Divide by 5

5/5 =5x/5

1=x

Let y=4

4 =5x

Divide by 5

4/5 =5x/5

4/5 =x

Let y=2

2 =5x

Divide by 5

2/5 =5x/5

2/5 =x

Please see the figure. We'll first work out half the area of the rounded triangle, half the unshaded part, then double it, then subtract it from the big square.

Half the area is the circular sector PTQ (with center P, arc TQ) minus the right triangle PUT.

A/2 = area(sector PTQ) - area(triangle PUT)

The triangle is half of equilateral triangle PQT, so a 30/60/90 right triangle so we know the sides are in ratio 1:√3:2 so

TU = (7/2)√3

area(PUT) = (1/2) (7/2)(7/2)√3 = (49/8)√3

area(sector PTQ) = (angle TQP / 360°) πr^2

We know angle TQP is 60° because TQP is equilateral.  r=7.

area(sector PTQ) = (60°/360°) π (7²) = 49π/6

Putting it together,

A/2 = area(sector PTQ) - area(triangle PUT)

A = 2(49π/6 -  (49/8)√3)

A = 49(π/3 - √3/4) square cm

I hate ruining a nice exact answer with an approximation, but they seem to be asking.

A ≈ 30.095057615914535

Check:

I'm not sure how to check it.  I'd estimate it's about 25% bigger than equilateral triangle PQT with area (√3/4)7² ≈ 21.2, so around 27. 30 seems reasonable.

Now the real area we seek is the big square PQRS minus A, so

area = 7² - 30.095057615914535 = 18.904942384086 sq cm

They want square meters for some reason; we scale by (1/100)²

Answer: 0.00189 square meters
