The hypothalamus is a small region of the brain which is located at the base of the brain, near the pituitary gland. The hypothalamus contains interconnecting neurons that regulates the functions of the autonomic nervous system such as maintaining daily physiological cycles, controlling appetite and regulating emotional responses.
