Suppose you are studying a population with the following characteristics: Birth rate = 14 per 1,000/year Death rate = 6 per 1,00
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

 12 per 1,000 / year would be population growth

Step-by-step explanation:

To know the population growth it is important to know what it contributes to its growth and that it decreases it.

Birth rate ==> increases growth

Death rate ==> decreases growth

Immigration rate ==> increases growth

Emigration rate ==> decreases growth

Now it only remains to add those that increase growth and subtract those that decrease, like this:

 14 per 1,000 / year - 6 per 1,000 / year + 5 per 1,000 / year - 1 per 1,000 / year = 12 per 1,000 / year

 12 per 1,000 / year would be population growth

Boris chooses three different numbers the sum of the three numbers is 36 one of the numbers is a cube number the other two numbe
OlgaM077 [116]

Answer:

3,4,5

Step-by-step explanation:

Here, we need to asume that the values are integers, as if not, there will be infinite solutions.

Lets go by parts:

The 1st number is a cubic, lets call it A

The second is a factor of 20, lets call it B. The same for the 3rd, call it C.

So, A + B+ C = 36

There are no many factors of 20, those are the numbers that when multiplied gives as the value of 20. Those are 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 and 20. So, B and C are some of these numbers.

Then, we know A if less than 36, other way the whole sum will be greater than 36. How many cubic number with integer cubic roots are less than 36? Well, lets guess:

1^3 = 1 -> valid, as it is less than 36

2^3 = 8 -> valid, as it is less than 36

3^2 = 27 -> valid, less than 36

4^3 = 64 -> not valid, as it is greater than 36

So, A ir 1, 2 or 3.

If A is 1, then B+C needs to be 35. But, from the factors of 20 that we listed, there are no combinations of 2 numbers that sum 35. So, A CAN'T be 1.

If A = 2, then we have:

8 + B + C = 36

B + C = 28

And again, there are not combinations of two factors of 20 that sum 28 (try yourself).

If A=3:

27 + B + C = 36

B +C = 9

And we have a winner!!! If B=4 and C=5 (or viceversa C=4 and B=5)

27 + 4 + 5 = 36

So, A=3, B=4 and C=5 or A=3, C=4 and B=5 are solutions.

Part (i)

Compute the slope of the line through the two points (0,0) and (4,8)

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (8-0)/(4-0)

m = 8/4

m = 2

The slope of this line is 2, so,

<h3>velocity = 2 m/s</h3>

==============================================

Part (ii)

The two points we're working with are (4,8) and (6,8). The slope is...

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (8-8)/(6-4)

m = 0/2

m = 0

Horizontal lines always have a slope of 0 to indicate no change in height.

<h3>The velocity is 0 m/s.</h3>

==============================================

Part (iii)

Same idea as the previous parts. The endpoints are (6,8) and (9,14)

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (14-8)/(9-6)

m = 6/3

m = 2

This piece also has slope 2. This piece is parallel to the first piece. Parallel lines have equal slopes but different y intercepts.

<h3>velocity = 2 m/s</h3>

==============================================

Part (iv)

  • (a) The average velocity from 0 to 4 seconds is the exact same as the velocity we computed earlier in part (i). The answer is 2 m/s
  • (b) We travel 8 meters in 6 seconds, so the average velocity is 8/6 = 4/3 = 1.33 m/s approximately. You can use the slope formula for the endpoints (0,0) and (6,8) to get the same result.
  • (c) The average velocity is 14/9 = 1.56 m/s approximately because we travel 14 meters in 9 seconds. You can use the slope formula for the endpoints (0,0) and (9,14).

As you can see, with average velocity, all we care about are the starting and ending points. We aren't concerned at all with what happens in between.

Comparing the results for part (i) and part (iv)(b), we see that the velocity has gone down. This is due to the flat portion in which you aren't moving.
