Puritan is commonly applied to a reform movement that aim to purify the practices and structure of the Church of England. They believe that civil authorities should enforce religion. King James 1 had series of issues with the Puritans regarding to religion and its affilated problems.
Due to this issue, most Puritians left England and moved to America inorder to escape the religious persecution they are facing in the hand of King James 1.
