Anna tries to keep her kilocalorie intake under control. She eats mostly lean meats or fish and a lot of vegetables. Yesterday,

for dinner, she had 3 ounces of baked salmon with half a cup of mashed sweet potatoes and about a cup of steamed asparagus. She is concerned about her weight and decided to calculate the kilocalories in her meal. She looked up the nutrient content of her foods and she consumed 7 grams of fat (in salmon) 36 grams of carbohydrates (in sweet potatoes and asparagus) 27 grams of protein (in salmon, sweet potatoes, and asparagus) Part A Energy Value of a Meal How many kilocalories did Anna consume for dinner? Round the number of kilocalories to the nearest whole number. View Available Hint(s) kilocalories Submit Part B - Energy Value of a Macronutrient How many of Anna's kilocalories came from proteins? Round the number of kilocalories to the nearest whole number. View Available Hint(s) kilocalories

Answer:

A.- 300kcal (315kcal) / B.- 100kcal (108kcal) - arround (30-35%)

Explanation:

In order to determine how many kilocalories have the meal, you have to multiply the macro-molecule grams as the following rule:

lipids * 9 / carbohydrates * 4 / proteins * 4

then

7g*9 + 36g*4 + 27g*4 = 63kcal + 144kcal + 108kcal (P) = 315kcal

Answer:

A). 315 Kcal

B). 108 KCal

Explanation:

The reason we eat is to obtain energy, which is the same reason Anna ate dinner yesterday. Food consists of different classes but the three major ones that acts as sources of energy are Carbohydrates, fats and protein. The energy in the food we ingest is measured in Kilocalories (Kcal) which is a thousand calories.

However, the different classes of food mentioned above contains different quantities of energy per gram i.e.

1 gram of carbohydrate = 4 Kcal

1 gram of protein= 4 Kcal

1 gram of fat = 9 Kcal

Hence, to calculate the total energy value (Kcal) present in the dinner Anne ate, we multipy the grams of each class of food by it's corresponding energy value in Kcal. Thus, we have;

For 7 grams of fat, 7 × 9 Kcal/g = 63 Kcal

For 36 grams of carbohydrates, 36 × 4 Kcal/g = 144 Kcal

For 27 grams of protein, 27 × 4 Kcal/g = 108 Kcal

Hence, the total energy value contained in the food is:

63 + 108 + 144

= 315 Kcal

For question B, based on the above explanation, 27 grams of protein was present in the food eaten. Hence, 27 × 4 Kcal/g = 108 Kcal

108 Kcal of protein contributed to Anna's total Kcal present in the food.

how does a carbon atom's ability to form bonds with other carbon atoms allow it to form large molecules?
Alexxandr [17]
The carbon atom can share 4 electrons in it's outer '' shell '' with other atoms.  this is the reason it can form the high number of bonds with other elements.

maks197457 [2]

Answer:

The motion of an object is defined by its change in position and direction.

Explanation:

Motion is the action of changing location or position. Motion is usually brought about by an external force.

Kinematics is the study of motion  alone without regard to the forces or energies involved.

The various types of motion include:

Translational motion : This is motion that occurs along a straight line. For example, a car travelling on a straight road.

Rotational motion: this motion that occurs in a circular path. For example, movement of the earth round the sun.

Oscillatory  motion: this is a periodic or to and fro motion that occurs between two points. For example, a swing or a simple pendulum.

Random or zigzag motion: This is motion that occurs in no particular pattern or direction. for example, the movement of dust particles.

If 10 cells undergo the cellular process of meiosis, how many daughter cells will result after Telophase II?
Law Incorporation [45]

Answer:

d. 40, B.4 unique

Explanation:

If 10 cells underwent meiosis, the result would be 40 daughter cells. This is because a cell that goes through meiosis goes through two divisions resulting in 4 daughter cells. This is because cells that undergo meiosis are gametes so they need to have half the number of chromosomes as the cells that go through mitosis.

The resulting daughter cells are unique, unlike the cells that go through mitosis. This is because the chromosomes in the cells experience something called crossing over during Metaphase I. Crossing over is when the chromosomes can swap pieces of DNA when next to each other. Cells in mitosis don't go through crossing over and are therefore identical.
