What happens to the immune system of a person with HIV, and how may that infection develop into AIDS?

So what happens is the immune system gets all messed up making the person's T cells (The ones that protect the immune system) and makes them fight themselves. Soon, the HIV controls everything and it turns into AIDS! :)
