Answer:

Both of them published works that challenged the views of the Church

Explanation:

the church believed the geocentric theory of the universe , it reinforced the religious view that God had made human beings special and put them at the center of the universe.

Copernicus theorized that the Earth orbited the Sun , this is called heliocentric system.

Galileo used primitive telescope technology to follow individual stars, the moon, moons of Jupiter, and sunspots & he observed evidence that supported Copernicus’ heliocentric theory.

Both Galileo and Copernicus argued in favor of heliocentricism, or that the sun is the center of the solar system. This was very controversial at the time wherein most people believed the Earth was the center of the universe.

Which category of criminal offenders represents the largest percentage of the u.s. prison population?
vekshin1

Public-order offenders represent the largest percentage of the US prison population.

Public-order offenders are those convicted of a public-order crime. A public-order crime is a crime that disrupts the normal functioning of society and its members.

It is a violation of societal norms and customs. It is differentiated from trifle deviancy by degrees- a deviant behavior is criminalized if it is overly disruptive and can only be controlled through law enforcement.

They are often called ‘victimless’ or ‘complaintless’ as they do not directly harm another party, and at the most only those engaged in the act. Example include the use of illegal drugs from recreation, illegal prostitution, distributing obscene material in public, etc.

contributions of the Babylonians to society? Explain why each was important and how each contribution influenced change.
Alex_Xolod [135]

Answer: Babylonians came after Akkadians and Sumerians so it is important to bear this in mind because many of their skills were inherited from previous cultures and some of these skills can be viewed as an extension of Sumerian and Akkadian culture/civilization (Sumerian language continued being language of liturgy, some old Sumerian religious cults were still there, Sumerian mythology was still present, astronomy and mathematics and cuneiform characters were inherited). Day divided in 24 hours is a Babylonian invention, circle divided in 360 degrees is also Babylonian invention, capacity to predict lunar eclipse and discovery of lunation (and their symbolic interpretation) is a Babylonian invention. Big part of all that was acquired/inherited by old Greek thinkers (Thales for example).

Explanation: There is no doubt that astronomy/astrology is of Sumerian/Babylonian origin and this knowledge was spread in Middle East and later it came to Greece. Egyptian and Greek (and later western) astrology was influenced by Babylonian astrology. Many predictive techniques and divinations we can found among Egyptians and Greek were of Babylonian origin (study of planetary secondary progressions, eclipses etc.).
