Sin=opposite÷hypotenuse

cos=adjacent÷hypotenuse

tan=opposite÷adjacent

hypotenuse is the longest side, the opposite is the side that is opposite of the angle you're trying to find, and the adjacent side is the side that is not the hypotenuse or opposite.

plug it into your calculator. it is very simple :))

for future reference if you attach a photo it will be easier for people to help you.

Given: EL- tangent, EK- secant <br> Prove: EJ·LK = EL·LJ
drek231 [11]

Answer:

This is possible.

Step-by-step explanation:

We can say that m<E=m<E, because of the Reflexive Property

Then, we have angles JKL and ELJ, which are equal through the peripheral angle theorem.

With these two angles, we can say that triangles ELK and EJL are similar, by the Angle-Angle Postulate (AA).

Then we can create this ratio through the Corresponding Parts of Similar Triangles Theorem, (CPST), \frac{LK}{LJ} =\frac{EL}{EJ}.

With this ratio, we can cross multiply to get the desired result

EJ·LK=EL·LJ

Hope this helps with your RSM problem

Keegan is priting and selling his original design on t-shirts. He has concluded that for x shirts, in thousands sold his total p
Damm [24]

Complete question is;

Keegan is printing and selling his original design on t-shirts. He has concluded that for x shirts, in thousands sold his total profits will be p(x) = -x³ + 4x² + x dollars, in thousands will be earned. How many t-shirts (rounded to the nearest whole number) should he print in order to make maximum profits? What will his profits rounded to the nearest whole dollar be if he prints that number of shirts?

Answer:

Number of t-shirts to make maximum profit = 2790 shirts

Maximum profit = $12,209

Step-by-step explanation:

From the question, we are given that the profit function is;

p(x) = -x³ + 4x² + x

For the maximum value of the profit function,

(dp/dx) = 0 and (d²p/dx²) < 0

Since, p(x) = -x³ + 4x² + x

Then,

(dp/dx) = -3x² + 8x + 1

at maximum point (dp/dx) = 0, thus;

-3x² + 8x + 1 = 0

Solving this using quadratic formula, the roots are;

x = -0.12 or 2.79

Also, (d²p/dx²) = -6x + 8

Now, let's put the roots of x into -6x + 8 and check for maximum value conditon;

at x = -0.12

(d²p/dx²) = -6(0.12) + 8 = 7.28 > 0

At x = 2.79

(d²p/dx²) = -6(2.79) + 8 = -8.74 < 0

Maximum has to be d²p/dx² < 0

So, the one that meets the condition is -8.74 < 0 at x = 2.79

Thus, the maximum of the profit function exists when the number of shirts, x = 2.79 (in thousands) = 2790

Now, the maximum profits that corresponds to this number of t-shirts of 2.79(in thousands) is obtained by putting 2.79 for x in the profit function;

So,

p(2.79) = -(2.79)³ + 4(2.79²) + 2.79

p(x) = -21.7176 + 31.1364 + 2.79

p(x) = 12.2088 (in thousand dollars) ≈ $12,209

A certain solar collector can absorb 9.0 MJ in 7.0 h. Another panel is added, and together they collect 41 MJ in 5.0 h. How long
Rina8888 [55]
Lets call the rate at which the first panel absorbs solar energy x:
x = 9/7

To find out how much energy the panel will absorb in a certain number of hours, just multiply x by the time:
In 7 hours, energy = (9/7) * 7 = 9MJ
In 8 hours, energy = (9/7) * 8 = (72/7)MJ

Let's call the rate at which the second panel absorbs solar energy y. Therefore, we can write an equation, in x and y, using the information in the question:
5x + 5y = 41

We know what x is, so 5x = 5 * (9/7) = (45/7):
(45/7) + 5y = 41
5y = 41 - (45/7)

41 is the same as (41*7)/7 = 287/7:
5y = 287/7 - 45/7 = (287-45)/7 = 242/7

Divide both sides by 5 to find the value of y (in MJ absorbed per hours, MJ/h):
y = 242/35 = 6.914285714MJ/h

Let's call the time taken for the new panel to absorb 41MJ t:
ty = 41

We know what y is, so substitute that in and solve:
6.914285714t = 41
t = 41/6.914285714 ≈ 5.929752066 hours

I would like to express this value in the SI unit, which is seconds, s:
5.929752066 * 3600 = 21347.1s
