To find explicit formulas, you need two things. The common difference and the first term.

For example, #18

The first term = -15

The common difference = -20 -(-15) = -20 + 15 = -5

y = A + B(n - 1)

A = our first term

B = our common difference

n = the term you want to find in the sequence.

Leta plug our numbers in from #18

y = -15 + -5(n - 1)

Let's find the 4th term in the sequence.

y = -15 + -5(4 - 1)

y = -15 + -5(3)

y = -15 + -15

y = -30

Determine the point on the graph of the linear equation 2x + 5y = 19, whose ordinate is 1 1/2 times its abscissa.
rosijanka [135]

Answer:

(2, 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

2x + 5y = 19

5y = -2x + 19

y = -\frac{2}{5} x + \frac{19}{5}

P(abscissa, ordinate)

P(x, 1.5x)

P(2, 3)

3 = -\frac{2}{5} (2) + \frac{19}{5}

3 = -\frac{4}{5} + \frac{19}{5}

3 = 15/5

3 = 3

Find an equation of the line given one point and the slope. (–10, –5);
allochka39001 [22]
You forgot to provide the slope but here is how you do this

the slope 5 = (y2 - y) / (x2 - x) but we know that (x2, y2) = (-10, -5)
=> (-5 - y) / (-10 - x) = 5 --- multiply both sides by (-10 - x)
=> (-5 - y) = 5 (-10 - x)
=> (-5 - y) = -50 - (5)x --- add +5 to both sides
=>  -y = (-50 + 5) - (5)x --- multiply both sides -1
=> y = 5x + 45  --- this will be your equation.

Need help with this. Hope someone can help
kirill115 [55]

To solve this problem, we must remember that the formula for volume is V = lwh, where l represents length, w represents width, and h represents height. Since we know the respective values for length, height, and volume, we can substitute those into the formula and then solve for the width, as modeled below:

30,000 cm³ = 30 cm * w * 500 mm

We must recognize first, though, that one of the values is given in millimeters, not centimeters. To continue solving this problem, we must convert this value to centimeters, using our knowledge that 1 cm = 10mm. This means that 500 mm = 50 cm, so we can substitute this into our equation below:

30,000 cm³ = 30 cm * w * 50 cm

To begin to solve this equation, we should first multiply all of the factors together on the right side of the equation, which gives us:

30,000 cm³ = 1,500w cm²

Next, we must divide both sides of the equation by 1,500 in order to get the variable w alone on the right side of the equation.

20 cm = w

Therefore, the width of the figure shown above is 20 cm.

Hope this helps!
