An absentminded professor accidentally locked his filing cabinet and does not have a key. Desperate to get it open, he used a paperclip to pick the lock. The paperclip is functioning in a manner similar to the <u>mimicking </u>functions of a drug <u>agonist. </u> The paper clip is actually mimicking the actual key to open the lock. It's the same as happens in the the case of agonist drugs, they binds to the particular receptors and cause the cell to process actively. It can be natural or artifical.
