-3x-8y=20\\ \\ -5x+y=19

First let's multiply the first equation by -5 and the second one by 3

-5\cdot (-3x-8y)=-5\cdot 20\\ \\ 15x+40y=-100

3\cdot (-5x+y)=3\cdot 19\\ \\ -15x+3y=57\\

And now let's add these two new equations.

15x+40y=-100\\ \\ -15x+3y=57\\ \\ (15x+40y)+(-15x+3y)=-100+57\\ \\ 15x-15x+40y+3y=-43\\ \\ 43y=-43\\ \\ y=\quad \frac { 43 }{ -43 } \\ \\ y=\quad -1

We found y's value. Let's put it in one of the equations to find x.

y=\quad -1\\ \\ -3x-8y=20\\ \\ -3x-8\cdot -1=20\\ \\ -3x+8=20\\ \\ -3x=20-8\\ \\ -3x=12\\ \\ x=\quad \frac { 12 }{ -3 } \\ \\ x=-4

(06.04 MC) Find the area of the following shape.
svetlana [45]

Check the picture below.

well, the purple trapezoid, has a height of 5, and its bases are of 5 units and 8 units, recall the bases are the parallel sides in a trapezoid.

now, the yellow rectangle, is a 6x5, and it has those two green triangles in it, well, if we simply get the area of the rectangle, 30 anyway, and subtract the areas of those green triangles, what's leftover, is the rest of the shape on points DEFA.

keeping in mind that the green triangles have a base of 4 and a height of 3 for the one atop and base of 5 and height of 2 for the bottom one.

\bf \stackrel{\textit{purple trapezoid}}{\cfrac{\stackrel{h}{5}(\stackrel{a}{5}+\stackrel{b}{8})}{2}}~~+~~\left[ \stackrel{\textit{yellow square}}{(6\cdot 5)}-\stackrel{\textit{two green triangles}}{\cfrac{1}{2}(4)(3)-\cfrac{1}{2}(5)(2)} \right] \\\\\\ \cfrac{5(13)}{2}+[30-6-5]\implies \cfrac{65}{2}+[19]\implies \cfrac{103}{2}\implies 51\frac{1}{2}

Mars2501 [29]
It is C, It kind of give you a hint because it says $25 more meaning +25 and three times meaning 3x. And it also tells you how much it adds up to which is $154.

Ricey paid $1500 in taxes for his premises. If the tax is 15% of the value of the premises, what is the value of his premises?
lesya692 [45]

Answer:

The premises is worth $10,000.

Step-by-step explanation:

The tax represents 15% of the value of the premises.  So we need to know 100% of that value.

\frac{1500}{0.15}=10,000
