The blood platelet counts of a group of women have a bell-shaped distribution with a mean of 246.9 and a standard deviation of 6

9.3 (All units are 1000 cells/l.) Using the empirical rule, find each approximate percentage below. a. What is the approximate percentage of women with platelet counts within 1 standard deviation of the mean, or between 177.6 and 316 2? b. What is the approximate percentage of women with platelet counts between 39.0 and 454.8? a. Answer:

The approximate percentage of women with platelet counts within 1 standard deviation of the mean, or between 177.6 and 316.2 is 68%.

The approximate percentage of women with platelet counts between 39.0 and 454.8 is 99.7%

Step-by-step explanation:

Mean : \mu = 246.9

Standard deviation : \sigma = 0.49

Empirical rule :

1 ) 68% of the data lies within 1 standard deviation of mean

This means 68% of data lies between: \mu-\sigmato \mu+\sigma

2) 95% of the data lies within 2 standard deviation of mean

This means 95% of data lies between: \mu-2\sigma to\mu+2\sigma

3) 99.7% of the data lies within 3 standard deviation of mean

This means 99.7% of data lies between: \mu-3\sigma to\mu+3\sigma

Now to find the approximate percentage of women with platelet counts within 1 standard deviation of the mean, or between 177.6 and 316. 2

Use rule 1: \mu-\sigmato \mu+\sigma

246.9-69.3to 246.9+69.3

177.6to 316.2

So, according to rule 1, 68% of the data lies within 1 standard deviation of mean i.e. 68% of the data lies between 177.6 and 316.2.

Now to find  the approximate percentage of women with platelet counts between 39.0 and 454.8?

Use rule 3: \mu-3\sigma to\mu+3\sigma

\mu-3\sigma to\mu+3\sigma

39to 454.8

So, According to rule 3 : 99.7% of the data lies within 3 standard deviation of mean  i.e. 99.7% of data lies between  39.0 and 454.8

mezya [45]

Answer:

the inverse of the quadratic function f(x) = x^2 - 3  is \mathbf{f^{-1}(x)=\pm \sqrt{x+3}}

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to find inverse of the quadratic function f(x) = x^2 - 3

Let

y=x^2-3

Replace x and y

x=y^2-3

Now, we will solve for y

Adding 3 on both sides

x+3=y^2-3+3

x+3=y^2

Taking square root on both sides

\sqrt{y^2}=\sqrt{x+3}\\y=\pm \sqrt{x+3}

Now replace y with f^{-1}(x)

f^{-1}(x)=\pm \sqrt{x+3}

So, the inverse of the quadratic function f(x) = x^2 - 3  is \mathbf{f^{-1}(x)=\pm \sqrt{x+3}}

A circle has a diameter with endpoints at 15 + 25i and –25 – 17i. Which point is also on the circle?
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

The point 16+24i is the point satisfying the equation

Hence, Option D is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

We will find mid-point from end points given.

Mid-point formula: (x,y)=(\frac{x_1+x_2}{2},\frac{y_1+y_2}{2})

On substituting the values we will get:

(x,y)=(\frac{-25+15}{2},\frac{-17+25}{2})

(x,y)=(-5,4)

Now, we have general equation of circle:

(x-a)^2+(y-b)^2=r^2

We will find r that is distance from mid-point to end oint using distance formula

\text{distance formula}=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

Here, x_1=-5,x_2=-25,y_1=4,y_2=-17

On substituting the values we get:

\text{distance formula}=\sqrt{(-25+5)^2+(-17-4)^2}

\text{distance formula}=\sqrt({20}^2+{21}^2)

\text{distance}=\sqrt{841}

Hence, r^2=841

Substituting the values in general equation we get:

(x-(-5))^2+(y-4)^2=841

[tex]\Rightarrow(x+5)^2+(y-4)^2=841[tex]

And when we substitute x=16 and y=24 the equation will be satisfied

and a=-5 and b=4

Hence, will lie on the circle

Therefore, option D is correct.
