Answer:

13520 N

Explanation:

Pascal's Principle: The principle states that the pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted undiminished to every portion of the fluid and the walls of the containing vessel.

The operation of hydraulic press and car brake system is based on pascal's principle.

From pascal's principle,

F/A = f/a ........................... Equation 1

Where F = force exerted by the large piston, A = area of the large piston, f = force applied to the small piston, area of the small piston.

Making F the subject of the equation

F = A(f/a)......................... Equation 2

Given: A = 0.13 m², a = 0.0075 m², f = 780 N

Substituting into equation 2

F = 0.13(780/0.0075)

F = 13520 N.

Thus the force exerted by the large piston = 13520 N

Doing a force balance on the car:
ma = Fr
ma = μmg
a = μg
a = 0.3(9.81)
a = 29.43 m/s2

Using the formula:
2ax = v2
2(29.43)(34) = v2
v = 44.74 m/s = 161.05 km/h

The car was going 44.74 m/s or 161.05 kph when the brakes were applied.

A rotating fan completes 1200 revolutions every minute. Consider the tip of a blade, at a radius of 0.15 m. (a) Through what dis
olga55 [171]

Answer:

(a) 0.942 m

(b) 18.84 m/s

(c) 2366.3 m/s²

(d) 0.05 s

Explanation:

(a) In one revolution, it travels through one circumference, 2πr = 2 × 3.14 × 0.15 m = 0.942 m.

(b) Its frequency, f, is 1200 rev/min = \dfrac{1200}{60}rev/s = 20 rev/s.

Its angular frequency, ω = 2πf = 2π × 20 = 40π

The speed is given by

v = ωr = 40π × 0.15 = 6π = 18.84 m/s

(c) Its acceleration is given by, a = ω²r = (40π)² × 0.15 = 2366.3 m/s²

(d) The period is the inverse of the frequency because it is the time taken to complete one revolution.

T = \dfrac{1}{f}

T = 1/20 = 0.05 s
