A potter is shaping a bowl on a potter's wheel rotating at constant angular speed. The friction force between her hands and the

clay is 1.6 N total.(a) How large is her torque on the wheel, if the diameter of the bowl is 12 cm?(b) How long would it take for the potter's wheel to stop if the only torque acting on it is due to the potter's hand? The initial angular velocity of the wheel is 1.6 rev/s, and the moment of inertia of the wheel and the bowl is .11 kg*m^2 Show all work and formulas for best rating.

Answer:

Part A:

T=0.096 N m

Part B:

t=11.525≅11.53 seconds

Explanation:

Part A:

In order to find the torque we will use the following formula:

T=r*F

Where T is the torue

r is the radius of bowel

F is the force

r=\frac{12*10^{-2} }{2} m\\

r=0.06 m

T=0.06*1.6

T=0.096 N m

Part B:

In order to find how long would it take for potter wheel to sto we will proceed the following way:

T=I*α

Where:

T is the Torque

I is the moment of inertia

α is the angular acceleration

α=T/I

we will take T from art A

α=0.096/0.11

α=0.872 rad/s^2

α=ω/t

where:

α is the angular accceleration

ω is angular velocity in rad/s

ω=1.6*2ππ

ω=10.05 rad/s

t=ω/α

t=\frac{10.05}{0.872}

t=11.525≅11.53 seconds

It will take 11.53 sec for wheel to stop

Question 1 (1 point)
Dmitry [639]

1). trajectory

2). person sitting in a chair

3). 490 meters

4). 65 m/s

5). False.  The projectile's displacement, velocity, and acceleration have vertical and horizontal components, but the projectile doesn't.

6). False

7). The vertical component of a projectile doesn't change due to gravity, but the vertical components of its displacement, velocity, and acceleration do.

The vertical components do NOT equal the horizontal components.

8). Decreasing if you include the effects of air resistance.  Constant if you don't.  Gravity has no effect on horizontal velocity.

9). We can't see the simulation.  But if the projectile doesn't have jets on it, then as it travels upward, its vertical velocity must decrease, because gravity is trying to not let it get away.

10). We can't see the simulation.  But if the projectile is traveling downward, we would call that "falling", and its vertical velocity must increase, because gravity is pulling it downward.

A pair of slits, separated by 0.150 mm, is illuminated by light having a wavelength of λ = 643 nm. An interference pattern is ob
kumpel [21]

Answer:

0.006 m

Explanation:

d = separation between the slits = 0.150 mm = 0.150 x 10⁻³ m

λ = wavelength of the light = 643 nm = 643 x 10⁻⁹ m

D = distance of the screen where interference pattern is observed = 140 cm = 1.40 m

δ = Path difference

Path difference is given as

δ = Dλ/d

δ = (1.40) (643 x 10⁻⁹)/(0.150 x 10⁻³)

δ = 0.006 m

Can any one Explain how energy is conserved in a heat pump.
MakcuM [25]
A heat pump draws heat from a cold object and rejects it to a hot one but it requires electrical energy to achieve this. Therefore, electrical energy is converted into heat energy or work in the pump's compressor. Therefore, energy is conserved.
