Girls were trained to be good moms and raise children. Boys were trained to be tough warriors. Sparta had a council of elderly men, more than 60 years old, that were the ones who had more power and made the toughest decisions.

Athens was a more creative place where arts, poetry, and philosophy were of the utmost importance for Athenians. They had a political system of direct democracy where only men were considered citizens and could vote an occupy political offices.
