Put the numbers in order
5, 8, 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45

Q1 = (8 + 10) / 2 = 18/2 = 9
Q2 -- median = 25
Q3 = (35 + 40)/2 = 75/2 = 37.5

the upper quartile (Q3) = 37.5
