Out of the following given choices;

a) birth control patch

b) birth control pill

c) birth control sponge

The answer is C. Barrier control methods of contraception are those that physically prevent the chances of fusion if egg and sperm. The birth control sponge is a form like substance inserted in the vagina and attached to the cervix and contains spermicide. The device physically closes the opening of the cervix so the sperm doesn’t pass to the uterus. The spermicide also deactivates the sperms. Other barrier control methods of contraception include condoms, diaphragm, and cervical cap.

Barrier methods of contraception would include:

1. Diaphragm

2. Sponge

3.Cervical cap

4.Male condom

5. Female condom

6. Spermicide.

Barrier methods of family planning are physical or chemical barriers that function to prevent conception. They have some advantages and disadvantages. For example some advantages of the diaphragm are that it has no effect on a woman's natural hormones, it can be used while breastfeeding beginning 6 weeks after birth. Some disadvantages  are  that there is increased risk of toxic shock syndrome if diaphragm is left in for more than 24 hours. Also it may have to be used in conjunction with another barrier method to enhance its efficacy.

Which of the following contributes to the development of type 1 DM (diabetes mellitus)?
Eddi Din [679]

Autoantibodies that contribute to the destruction of beta cells contributes to the development of type I diabetes mellitus (DM)

Explanation:

The autoantibodies produced in the cells of the islet of Langerhans in the pancreas are the main contributors of type I diabetes mellitus, which is an autoimmune-mediated disease.

DM type I is caused due to inhibition of insulin secretion by the beta cells of the pancreas. The autoantibodies are produced due to the presence of autoantigens like GAD65 which causes autoimmune pathogenesis of the pancreatic beta cells.

Along with these autoantibodies, the T-cell receptors act as mediators in the destruction of beta cells which finally results in DM.

If you ate bacon and fried eggs for breakfast, the largest component of the energy would come from the ______.
shtirl [24]

The correct answer is fats.

Bacon and eggs are animal products, which are high in fats, including saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Furthermore, both bacon and fried eggs are fried using fats such as oils or butter, further increasing the amount of fat consumed. While fried eggs and bacon also contain a good amount of protein, the fat content is higher, and thus, the largest component of the energy from bacon and fried eggs would come from fat.
