<h3>Answer:</h3><h3>As a mixed number, the volume is 60 & 5/8 cubic inches</h3><h3>As a decimal number, the volume is 60.625 cubic inches</h3>

Both represent the same thing, just written in a different format.

======================================================

Work Shown:

1/8 = 0.125

12 & 1/8 = 12 + 1/8 = 12 + 0.125 = 12.125

1/4 = 0.25

1 & 1/4 = 1 + 1/4 = 1 + 0.25 = 1.25

The block has dimensions:  4 in by 1.25 in by 12.125 in

The volume of a rectangular block is the product of the length, width and height.

volume = length*width*height

volume = 4*1.25*12.125

volume = 60.625

Let's convert the result to a mixed number

60.625 = 60 + 0.625

60.625 = 60 + 625/1000

60.625 = 60 + (5*125)/(8*125)

60.625 = 60 + 5/8

60.625 = 60 & 5/8

Using a calculator, note that 5/8 = 0.625

The units for the volume are in cubic inches

(inch)*(inch)*(inch) = (inch)^3 = cubic inches

Solve the equation a=m-n for the variable n.
amid [387]
Our objective is to isolate n one side of the equation. The steps are as follows...

a=m-n
(Add n to both sides)
a+n=m-n+n
(The -n and +n cancel out, on the right side of the equation)
a+n=m
(Now subtract a from both sides)
a+n-a=m+a
(The +a and -a cancel out, on the right side of the equation)
n=m+a

A certain airplane has two independent alternators to provide electrical power. The probability that a given alternator will fai
azamat

Answer:

Probability (Both fail)  = 0.001369

Probability (None fails) =0.927369

Probability (at least one fails)   = 0.072631

Step-by-step explanation:

given data

Probability (fail) P = 0.037

two alternators is  independent

solution

we get here first  probability that both will fail will be

Probability (Both fail) = 0.045²    ................1

Probability (Both fail)  = 0.001369

and

now we get probability that neither will fail

Probability (None fails) = (1-0.037)²              ...............2

Probability (None fails) =0.927369

and

now we get probability that at least one fails

Probability (at least one fails)  = 1 - Probability (non fails)     .................3

Probability (at least one fails)   = 1 - 0.927369

Probability (at least one fails)   = 0.072631
