Answer:

This is a trial and error problem

we can divide 30 eyes by 2 eyes on each animals to know that there is 15 animals

15 animals now make a random guess

Find out the difference of feet. 1 dog has 4 feet - 2 chicken feet = 2 feet increase or decrease so if we need to increase by 2 we add 1 dog and if we need to subtract to then we add 1 chicken

11 dogs and 4 chickens

that is 44 feet + 8 feet = 52 feet

52 - 44 feet needed = 8 feet

8 / 2 feet decrease = 4 more chickens needed

11 - 4 (subtracting 4 dogs off)= 7

4 + 4 (replacing the dogs with chickens)= 8

7 dogs and 8 chickens

7 x 4 = 28

8 x 2 = 16

28 + 16 = 44

7 dogs and 8 chickens

Hope this helps

Answer:  8 chickens, 7 dogs

Step-by-step explanation:

You can create a system of equations.

Let c represent the number of chickens

and d represent the number of dogs.

Chickens have 2 eyes and 2 legs

     Dogs have 2 eyes and 4 legs

Total eyes is 30 and total legs is 44

  Legs: 2c + 4d = 44

- (Eyes: 2c + 2d = 30)

                    2d = 14

                      d = 7

Substitute d = 7 into either of the equations to solve for c

2c + 2d = 30

2c + 2(7) = 30

2c          = 30 - 14

2c          = 16

          c = 8
