Sickle cell trait is apparently an adaptation for the prevention of Malaria.  Sickle cell trait is a condition in which the red blood cells are abnormally shaped, if they inherit two faulty copies of the gene for the oxygen-carrying protein hemoglobin. The faulty gene persists because even carrying one copy of it confers some resistance to malaria. As a result, the frequencies of sickle cell carriers are high in malaria endemic areas.

Usimov [2.4K]

The question is incomplete as it does not have the options which are:

A. Phloem

B. Xylem

C. Apical meristem

D. Root cap

Answer:

The correct answer will be option- Root cap

Explanation:

The plant growth takes place not only above the surface but below the surface also in the roots. Roots continually grow to absorb more water and nutrients to support the growth of the plant.

The roots are protected by a layer of protective cells forming a structure called root cap below the root. The root cap protects the roots, secretes a substance which helps the growth of the root and the sense gravity.

In the given question since the roots are not able to grow therefore the damaged part will be the root cap.

Thus, the root cap is the correct answer.

The overall result of the proton-proton chain is that ________
Delicious77 [7]
Basically, the P-P chain turns 4 protons into: 1 neutrino, 1 gamma ray, 1 positron, 1 helium nucleus.
A gamma ray = energy.
The chain converts hydrogen into helium and makes energy.

This is all occurring through fusion reactions where 2 protons basically smash into each other. But, it could also be e.g. a proton smashing with a deuterium nucleus. Or, other nuclei smashing together to make something else.

Hope this helps!

Functions of astrocytes include all of the following except
Neporo4naja [7]

The question is incomplete. The complete question is as follows:

Functions of astrocytes include all of the following, except

A) performing repairs in damaged neural tissue.

B) guiding neuron development.

C) functioning in action potential transmission.

D) maintaining the blood-brain barrier.

E) creating a three-dimensional framework for the CNS.

Answer:

Functioning in action potential transmission.

Explanation:

Astrocytes may be defined as the glial type star shaped cells present in the central nervous system. They envelope the synapse and can function with millions of neuron at a time.

Astrocytes are involved in the structural support in the brain and can repair the damaged and wear nerves tissue. Their main function is acting as blood brain barrier. The action potential transmission is mainly done by neurons and not by the astrocytes cells.

Thus, the correct answer is option (c).
