What this means is that a person could have a mutant gene in them, also having a normal gene that is paired with  autosomal chromosomes. This is similar to the autosomal recessive disorder, but the autosomal recessive disorder needs two mutant genes in them, meaning that there is a less likely chance of getting the disease passed on to the off spring. The autosomal dominant disorder only needs one mutant gene in order to be effective during the inheritance for a offspring.
