A young man develops skin cancer that does not spread to any other tissues. The mutation responsible for the cancer arose in a s

ingle cell in his skin. If he and a female partner (who does not have skin cancer) have children after his skin cancer diagnosis, which of the following is most likely true?
1. All the man's children will inherit the mutation
2. All the man's children will inherit the mutation if the mutation is dominant
3. Some of the man's children may inherit the mutation depending on which of his chromosomes they inherit
4. None of the man's children will inherit the mutation

Answer:

4. None of the man's children will inherit the mutation

Explanation:

This is because the mutation is somatic. that is it only affect single skin tissues and not carried in the sex-cells,that is not germinal.

Only Germinal mutation that are carried in the sex-cells of either sperm or egg , and transmitted during fertilisation can be be inherited by the offspring.

However, had it mean it was no localized, but metastasis,( spread through the blood stream to the sex-cells,) then it can be inherited by the children. Besides the wife is also negative there is no chance of the kids inheriting the mutation

Relaxin

Relaxin, secreted by the corpus luteum of the ovary as well as the placenta, is responsible for helping to inhibit uterine activity and to soften the cervix and the collagen in joints. Softening of the cervix allows for dilatation at birth; softening of collagen allows for laxness in the lower spine and so helps enlarge the birth canal. The effect of estrogen is to cause breast and uterine enlargement. Progesterone has a major role in maintaining the endometrium, inhibiting uterine contractility, and aiding in the development of the breasts for lactation. Human placental lactogen (hPL), also known as human chorionic somatomammotropin, serves as an antagonist to insulin, making insulin less effective, thereby allowing more glucose to become available for fetal growth.

How do bacteria maintain their internal ph despite the ph of the environment in which they grow?
ipn [44]
The answer to this question would be: by producing buffer

The pH of optimal growth of bacteria might be different. Some bacteria can grow in an acid condition called acidophile, other live in base condition called alkaliphiles and the rest live in neutral pH condition called neutrophiles. The bacteria can maintain their internal pH by producing acid, base or buffer. If the surrounding pH is too acid, the bacteria can reduce the H+ concentration by producing base. If the condition is too alkali/base, the bacteria can produce acid by doing fermentation.

Correct option a) Increased plasma volume.

A potential negative health effect of stress is Shrinks the brain. Stress that's the left unchecked can contribute to many health problem, such as high blood pressure , heart disease , obesity and diabetes.

The volume of the brain tends to remain about the same, it has been found that chronic stress in healthy individuals can causes areas of the brain associated with emotions , metabolism and memory of that individual to be shrink slowly.

Stress can also be positive which is distress , getting job promotion or being given grater responsibilities keeping us alert and ready to avoid danger. It can became negative if a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between challenges.

galina1969 [7]

Answer:

The student is wrong, spermatozoa are germinal cells and therefore mitochondrial mutations (likewise genomic nuclear mutations) are inherited by offspring

Explanation:

Although the probabilities of inheriting a mutation from a single sperm cell are low, it since an organism produces millions of sperm cells throughout its life span, the mutations in the germinal cells (i.e., sperms and ovules) are inherited by offspring
