The war began in May 1763 when native Americans offended by the policies of British general Jeffrey Amherst they attacked a number of British forts and settlements
In the lower South the majority of slaves lived and worked on cotton plantations. Most of these plantations had fifty or fewer slaves, although the largest plantations have several hundred. Cotton was by far the leading cash crop, but slaves also raised rice, corn, sugarcane, and tobacco.
So slaves did a lot of heavy farm work and were household servants.
During the second battle of bull run,<span> Pope's Union forces tried to commit an invasion to the Southern capital of Richmond failed the operation and were defeated. Soon after their defeat, Pope's scattered Union troops clashed many times with Southern forces led by Major General "Stonewall" Jackson.
